Rodeo,
always a part of the Wild West Show. Advertised
as a bronco busting and steer roping contest, cowboys, farmers,
tourists, reporters and city folk came from all over. The horses
were truly wild mustangs from the prairie.
A Cheyenne Frontier Day story has one alarming incident occurred
during the afternoon. The wild horses had been milling around, nervous
and excited after some of them had been roped by the cowboys. They
broke out of the corral and stampeded onto the race track. The horses
suddenly turned and rammed straight through the bleachers which
were six rows high and made of 2 inch by 12 inch planks. The flimsy
seating was knocked down. people yelled and screamed as they scrambled
madly about trying to get out of harm's way. Miraculously, no one
was seriously hurt.
Wild Wild West.... everyone up we’re burning daylight….
Cowboy Up!
